Belly Art

Wes and I opted not to do maternity photos- I was never really into the whole idea. As part of a push present he bought me (Auntie) Casey's old camera, so I can document little Peanut. As this pregnancy is coming to a close, I started regretting not having any nice photos of my big belly. I decided to try for myself, and played around a bit with the self timer on my new camera. All I needed was one good photo and I'd be happy. I tried many takes, jumping off the bed to check the picture and hurrying back in place to pose for the next one- that would (hopefully) be better than the last. It was exhausting to say the least!... And then I got this shot by accident.

Barney jumped on the bed and sat next to me just as the camera shutter snapped. Of the 30 some pictures I took. This one is my very favorite. You can't see her, but Rox was lounging at the end of the bed the whole time and could have cared less what I was attempting. Barney is much more compassionate.

I’m in a few Mom’s groups on Facebook. It’s a nice little community and moms to be and new moms give each other advice and support and sometimes share pictures. Because I now had this nice photo that I loved but wasn't quite sure what to do with, I thought I'd share with my moms. I knew they would appreciate my DIY efforts.

It actually got quite a response! (Barney is a show stealer 😊).

The next morning, I woke up to a message in my inbox. A mom asked if she could turn my photo into art. Not quite sure what she meant, I agreed and later got this! 👇 In three different versions even! I like the first design best.

Now, not only do I have a meaningful maternity picture of my very large belly, I also have a special piece of art (from a complete (but very nice) stranger) to go with it.
